Tour de France is in Leeds
- date: 12-03-2014
As the Tour de France Grand Départ approaches Leeds City Council are planning an extensive programme of city dressing, the first wave of which has already started along the route in the city centre.
However it is important to ensure that the whole city feels involved in the celebration not just the city centre and those areas along the route. With this in mind we will be developing a community pack that could include bunting, branded posters with a space for event details, and outdoor banners, to ensure that we can offer support to events and a coherent look and feel to festivities regardless of their proximity to the route. We envisage that the pack will be available late April/Early May to allow for a period of 6 weeks ahead of the tour passing through the city, giving visibility and profile to events taking place across communities.
The exact content of the community pack is currently being developed and we will be in touch in due course with more details about what is in the pack and how communities can order them. If you would like to register your interest to receive more information on this opportunity as becomes available please contact: Leanne.firstname.lastname@example.org
There will also be a meeting at 6.30pm on Monday 31 March for knitters, gardeners, artists and anyone else who might want to get personally involved with city dressing. You can register to attend at https://dressingupforgranddepartleeds.eventbrite.co.uk. Please feel free to circulate this information amongst your networks.
Of course all of their latest news and information is available at www.leeds.gov.uk/granddepartleeds.
